Day 3 of 30 days of writing challenge.

Frankly, I was not familiar with the term of pet peeve when I started writing this. So, I googled it and found several explanations that helped me to get an understanding:

  • A pet peeve is a particular thing that bugs you every time. A peeve is an annoyance, and a pet peeve is an annoyance that’s nurtured like a pet — it’s something someone can never resist complaining about. — Vocabulary.
  • A pet peeve, pet aversion, or pet hate is a minor annoyance that an individual identifies as particularly irritating to them, to a greater degree than would be expected based on the experience of others. — Wikipedia.

Pet peeves tend to be small issues, such as littering, misusing punctuation, driving slowly in the fast lane, or talking during movies. If something like that drives us crazy then it is a pet peeve.

And my top 3 pet peeves are:

  • People smoking in public spaces and/or near children. Smokers should smoke in a private place so they can inhale their own smokes that they just exhale. So if smoking kills, it will only kills the active smokers, not the other human being around them.
  • Emotional driver. There is no benefit comes in getting angry, yelling or cursing when you are driving. It won’t help you to arrive at the destination sooner or safer. On the contrary, being emotional can increase the chance for you to involve in a fight when you’re on the way, which will only cause you trouble and unnecessary losses, such as wasted time and energy.
  • Very loud noises.
